Participation in the Cabinet Secretariat’s “EXPO School Caravan”

As the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai event approaches, the Cabinet Secretariat is running the “EXPO School Caravan” at schools across Japan to inspire children to think about the future and take action. Suntory is supporting this initiative by holding Mizuiku (water education) “Offsite Classes” at three schools.

January 14 (Tue): Takamatsu Daiichi Elementary School, Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture
January 31 (Fri): Sasugaya Elementary School, Bunkyo, Tokyo
February 7 (Fri): Yakuendai Minami Elementary School, Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture

“Mizuiku” instructors led the sessions, helping children recognize the importance of water and the forests that nurture it. The classes provided an opportunity for students to think for themselves about what they can do to ensure a sustainable future for water.

The children who participated shared their thoughts, saying, “I was impressed by how different types of soil can affect the results,” “I want to reduce the amount of water I use by using tools like water-saving spouts,” and “I’d like to take part in activities to protect forests and plant trees.” It was particularly striking to hear not only what they can do now but also what they aspire to do for the future.

We will continue to promote initiatives that inspire many children to take an interest in environmental activities and take action to preserve clean water for future generations.
